Our story

In 2017, my wife Ana and I began to sense that God may be opening the door to a new season of ministry. We deeply loved serving in Youth Ministry and I thought I was going to be a Youth Pastor well into my 80s, but I couldn’t shake this small thought that God could be calling us to plant a church.

For some, God gives a clear sign, for some, God sends an individual to encourage them to move. Those two pushes were a part of our story, but what I will always point to is God’s willingness to grant me the courage to take the next step and ask the next question.

With that process and the help of Assist Church Expansion, and our Core team, we spent countless hours over two years in preparation for God to move our family from the D. C. area to Towson, Maryland in March of 2020.

Along with the rest of the world, the limitations caused by Covid made early progression very hard to come by. Instead, what it provided were opportunities to meet and know people who live in our community as well as learn what it means to be a resident of the Baltimore area.

Then in 2021, as people became more open to gathering together and as our team grew, we began to hold small group gatherings called Community Circles. These gatherings were opportunities to learn from God’s Word as well as grow closer to one another. Our team also searched for ways to join in with what the people in our community were already doing.

Events like the Towson Farmer’s Market, Trunk or Treat, and the Towson Town Spring Festival became opportunity to connect with the great people in the
Greater Baltimore area.

As 2021 came to a close and 2022 started, our team had grown into a small church family and began to meet together on Sundays in our home. These times were full
of coffee, doughnuts, and learning from God’s word. Ana even turned our basement into the coolest basement Kids’ Church you’ve ever seen! As the year went on, the space in our living room grew smaller and smaller. We realized it was time to prepare for the launch of a public Sunday Service.

After searching, planning, and lots of inviting, we are finally launching our public Sunday Service in January of 2023 at the Towson Cinemark.

God has truly authored the plans of Church At The Well. Since the very beginning, the purpose of Church At The Well has
been, “Together we help people become followers of Jesus.”

As this church continues to grow and change, over the next 20 to 30 years my prayer and hope is that it never loses its dependency on God, its desire to be in and for the community, and most importantly, its commitment to corporately help people follow Jesus.
